Kathleen Adams Olsen came to Kirkland by way of New Jersey, Norway, Minnesota and California. It was in Minneapolis that Kathleen was first introduced to Bikram yoga by a friend. The class was challenging, but Kathleen remembers it felt better than anything she had tried before.

Sixteen years later and now in Washington state, Kathleen continues her practice at the Ashram and started teaching Yin yoga in 2017. For Kathleen, there is nothing better than yoga to bring mind and body together. Her advice for students of all levels is the same: it's not about how you look. It's about how you feel.

Yoga also helped inspire Kathleen's business venture, Messenger Rugs. Her yoga practice combined with her creative background in graphic design and textile design led to Kathleen designing and importing rugs from Nepal. Though the meditation rugs were inspired for, and by, yoga, they can be used anywhere. In addition to her textile design company, Kathleen works with Asian antiquities for Honeychurch Antiques.

Kathleen's other interests and hobbies include self-study, design, knitting, gardening, and cooking. She is married and has two children.
